About me

I’m a water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) specialist, currently working for the DRC WASH Consortium in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. I previously completed a PhD in collaboration with the NGO WaterAid in Mali on the sustainability and financing of rural water services.

I started this blog during my PhD research, while I was living in Bamako – hence the title. I now live in Kinshasa but spend much of my time working with partners throughout DRC. The aim of the blog remains to share ideas, research and analysis on WASH issues and engage in the bigger debates about international development.
